SERVAS is an international, non-profit, non-government organization
with an international network of hosts and travelers. Established in 1949,
it started its activity in Denmark and US. Servas Japan was formed in
1962. Servas International places its administration office in Switzerland and
is joined by more than 100 nations and districts. It is recognized as an NGO
by the United Nations and ECOSOC as well. (ECOSOC is Economic and Social
Council of United Nations.)
SERVAS aims to help build world peace, good will, understanding, and tolerance
among people of different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities. In order to
realize its purposes, we provide opportunities for personal contacts to hosts
and travelers of the world.
